Town Council has implemented new regulations regarding garbage and landfill restrictions - effective April 1, 2015:

RESIDENTS WILL BE LIMITED to no more than 2 (two) STANDARD SIZE garbage bags –(SIZE 25.62” X 32.5”) of refuse to be picked -up per household per week

Should you have more than 2 garbage bags; you will have to bring the additional refuse to the landfill yourself or keep it in your possession until the following pickup date.  Also, if you are in the habit of using several small grocery bags for your refuse, please note that you are still limited to 2 bags for pickup. Kindly place all your grocery bags of refuse in one (or two) standard size garbage bags if you want them picked up.

The purpose of the restrictions is to reduce the amount of refuse going to the landfill.  When the landfill is full, IT WILL BE DECOMMISSIONED and a transfer station will be put in its place.  The cost to the consumer to operate a transfer station will far exceed costs and restrictions currently in place at this landfill.  It is hoped that by reducing the amount of refuse going into the landfill and by recycling more, the municipal landfill will last a little longer.

PLEASE HELP YOUR COMMUNITY AND DO YOUR PART BY REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF WASTE YOU PRODUCE AND BY RECYCLING MORE!
