Museum

The Willow Bunch Museum & Heritage Society was established in 1972 by a group of local students through a government summer employment program. Originally housed in the old hospital, the Museum moved to its present location in 1985. Today, the Museum is housed in an artifact itself, a Convent school built by the Sisters of the Cross in 1914.

The Willow Bunch Museum houses a variety of unique and diverse artifacts. A letter-folding machine used in the early 1900's, and a pair of moccasins styling a distinct Metis floral pattern, are to name a few.

The clothing and history of Edouard Beaupré are a particular attraction.

Also known as the “Willow Bunch Giant”, Edouard was born in Willow Bunch in 1881 and grew to a height of eight feet, three inches. He traveled throughout North America, touring in circus shows and exhibiting his extraordinary stature and strength.

Today, his “footsteps” lead to the entrance of the Museum, where a life-size statue and personal effects pay tribute to this local, well-known hero.
